Beyond a Textbook

Ultrasound

Ultrasound provides a real-time view as either 2D slices or 3D reconstructions, with no radiation, making it the investigation of choice for a number of conditions. In obstetrics, gynaecology and paediatrics, ultrasound is favoured as it is minimally invasive and readily available. Other common uses outside of hospitals include abdominal (especially gallstones), breast, vascular and musculoskeletal system imaging.

The talk includes a second section in self-study format (no slide narration) to provide more examples of the applications of ultrasound.
